Episode Transcription

[00:00:00] how do you create an amazing webinar or a great workshop or a podcast or an e-book or any of those things without some kind of compass to follow for your brain?

[00:00:12] How are you going to know how to do your graphics, your colors, the tone of your voice, online, your communication strategy. How do you do those things? If you haven't built out your identity yet you can do it, but you will change it in the future one and two, it's not creating a staying power, memorability standout.

[00:00:31] Any of that. It's just another thing that somebody might download and be like, oh, okay. But guaranteed, if it's not branded, they'll forget who even made it. what's going on. What's going on, everybody. Welcome to the dirty, dirty lab. I don't know, Monday what's happening. What's happening today. We're talking about something super juicy and near and dear to my heart because why I created it

[00:01:52] so today, guys, we are going to be talking about your personal brand roadmap. And I'm so excited because I have been working on forgive me as I, as I try and open the box with all of the pieces in it. I have been working on a personal brand roadmap for, I'm going to say at least two years, at least two years.

[00:02:11] And I'll tell you why it's taken so long because. As we, I am like a student of my craft. I feel anyways. And I feel like everybody should be. And as I continue to grow and get better, I would be like, this is the path you're supposed to take. And then I would, something would happen. I'd be like, oh no, you need this piece.

[00:02:33] Or, oh no, this piece goes here. So it was kind of like this puzzle to answer the question. How, where do I start in building my personal brand and everybody's at different stages. So there was that too. Every, some, some parts of your brand. You already have some, you need some steps you've seen. And I was like, okay, if they're here, I know exactly where to take you.

[00:02:53] But at the same time, I felt like everyone else wanted a snapshot of how, like what's the actual roadmap. It's the, where I'm at, but also the where I'm going. So today I'm going to take you through the map high level. And what's really great is you're going to have an opportunity to get this map because we are doing a lot of juicy things over here with it.

[00:03:15] And then we're going to, there's gonna be a quiz involved. There's going to be some video training involved, but if you want that, make sure you send me a DM saying, Hey, I want to be the first to get that. And I will make sure that you are the first to get emailed about it. Save. Without further ado. Let's talk about this juicy roadmap that came.

[00:03:35] like I said before, one of the big, biggest questions I get asked is. When he, where do you start with your personal brand? Or I have some of these pieces, or I've already bought, I've already built the website now, what do I do? Like the, where I'm at and what comes next? So this is, this is what's. This is the answer to that question.

[00:03:52] And I'm a visual learner. So I wanted it to be in a graphic form. I have it written out in so many ways, but I was like, who really sits in re. I don't know. Do you read like tons and tons of content? Like does any of you guys sit here and actually read anything I write to you? I'm like, nobody's, I'd be sitting and reading any of it anyways.

[00:04:09] Right? I was like, I want it in a snapshot. I want it on one page and I want it to be beautifully, visually beautiful. I was like, that's what I want. So I worked with this really great brand team. And they helped me like visually put it together. I put all the content together. It was like, I told them the vision and that's what they came up with.

[00:04:27] They came up with this very beautiful roadmap. the thing about it is there are, there were quite a few steps to get from the beginning to the end. And at first I was like, oh, how do I make this super simple and make this in like three easy steps. There are no three easy steps to building an amazing reputation that makes you money.

[00:04:44] Like their steps, but I wouldn't say there's three, there ain't no three simple steps. There's where you're at and where you're going and the steps are the steps. So that's what it is. But what I did discover is that there are five levels to building out the brand and I'm going to take you through that.

[00:05:00] And then inside of each level, there are steps you need to take. There are any key ingredients that you need at each level to move on to the next level. And I finally, this is interesting in business because. We always want to jump steps. We always want to get there fast. I'm like that too. Like I want to move as fast as possible.

[00:05:17] I know we all feel running out of time with our lives. Meanwhile, There's a S there's the saying, Jamaica. This was Jamaican. Say that if you run too fast, you run two times. My mother-in-law's always saying this to me because I'm always moving so quickly. So you're running too fast. You run two times, meaning you have to go, you'll end up at the same place.

[00:05:36] You have to do it all over again. Right. You have to like, so why would you want to run two times? Run one. So I'm going to take you through, the graph with you so you can see it up close. Okay. So these are the five steps. I know my, if you're looking at this, my face is kind of cutting it off.

[00:05:49] So I'm just going to read it for you so you can know exactly what's going on. And like I said, this is going to be. Available digital form in may. So you'll be able to get a copy for yourself and print it out. some lucky people will actually get it mailed to them. definitely if you have your ticket for the momentum retreat, you're going to get this because this is our guiding roadmap for the retreat.

[00:06:07] We're going to be taking you through some of the key elements in each one of these levels. So you can go and be the boss that you are and start getting all of the opportunities you were meant to have. First level of course is mobile mindset. You, everything you want begins with the right state of mind, you have to believe it's possible for you.

[00:06:26] And we think that that's like, Something everybody should know and obvious, but I can't tell you how many people are struggling with their confidence saying they want the big things that they want, but they're not willing to work on themselves and check in with their mindset first and foremost, because at every single level you get to.

[00:06:47] Your mindset is going to be the thing that determines. If you get to the next level, it's not all the other working pieces. It's your mind. This will play some tricks on you and get in your way when you are growing and moving on to the bigger thing. Why? Because our minds are meant to protect us from risk, from pain, from hurt.

[00:07:08] That's what it was designed for. So when we want to move on to the next big thing, what is our mind say? The like, Ooh, no, no, no, that's scary. No, no, no, stay, stay safe. Stay where you is over here. We know this is familiar. Don't be trying to jump over there and try and be great. That's what happens. And we need programs, coaches mindset, tools to get us out of our own way so we can move to the next.

[00:07:34] Okay. So first level is always mindset. And I'm gonna tell you what's under, under mindset inside of the roadmap. But let me just tell you each level is color-coded. And I'm gonna tell you what the, for the things that are underneath mindset, just so you know, what's here. When you later you go and see it and you can start thinking about it.

[00:07:49] So the first thing is you've got to know your big vision, right? So you gotta be able to map out your goals and you have to know what success looks like. If you don't know what success looks like for you, you won't know when you reach it. And what happens when we set goals and we did it, or what success looks like when we reach the.

[00:08:08] Nothing. We don't even know we reached the goal. So we're always feeling like less than, or always feeling like we're trying to get somewhere and we can't get that place. We never achieved the thing because we didn't know what success looked like in the first place. So you've got to map out what are the big goals, the big goals or small goals, what are we actually trying to achieve?

[00:08:24] So a lot of the times when you're trying to, when people come to me and they're like, I want to build out my personal brand, I'm like, Why are we doing this? What do you really want? And they're like, well, I want more, you know, I w it's it's time for me to like, step into my power and I'm like, why? And I was like, okay, well, it's time for me to launch this business.

[00:08:42] And I'm like, why? And they're like, well, I want to do speaking. I'm like, okay, I want to write books. I'm like, okay. I want to create. Legacy for my family. At the end of the day, it's all about the legacy at the end of the day, it's like, what are we really trying to put out here in the world? You want choice?

[00:08:59] You want autonomy? You want to build something great. Maybe you want to impact a community, but all of those pieces. Are the roadmap for you. And that's why each roadmap, even though the steps like the ingredients are the same, the steps may be a little different. How the steps come together may be a little different depending on what the end is.

[00:09:18] So we're always starting with the. And then another piece inside of mogul mindset is picking your lane. So this is all about like knowing your zone of genius, niching down and making your name synonymous with your expertise. So we can not be the Jill of all trades to everything. Talk about all the stuff.

[00:09:35] It dilutes your brand one and two. It makes you like it doesn't make you memorable for in anybody's mind. And that is your goal. Your goal is to become top of mind in the area. You're saying you're an expert in, so you've got to pick your niche. You got to pick your lane, then owning our story. You have to learn to discover what are the unique elements.

[00:09:55] Of your story that make you qualified to teach the thing that you're teaching? We are all unique because we have all had unique, lived experiences, all of us. So when, when people say like my industry is oversaturated or this, that, and the third, every industry is over-saturated, that has nothing to do with your success.

[00:10:15] It has to do with how are you going to position your story and what you do in a way that resonates with the people who need to hear. And then the fourth piece in the law in level one, which is mogul mindset is audience and influence. You need to decide who you're trying to reach and influence so you can connect your presence with that.

[00:10:34] We have to know who we're talking to. In other words, We're not talking to everybody. There's a very specific person who needs what you have and you need to discover who that is. So here's the thing about that. These pieces you may not know yet, and that's why we're going to develop like a whole quiz for you to, for you to figure out what section do you belong in and what to do next.

[00:10:54] We're going to have action steps on like, this is what you need to do. So if you don't have. These pieces and you can do this while we go through, this is definitely going to go over 30 minutes. I know it's 30, 30, and we're definitely going to go over today. Okay. Cause there's pieces and I want to get into it.

[00:11:07] So you already know if you're sitting there questioning your personal brand and who you are, or your brand is a business period, right? Cause sometimes people don't understand the difference between personal brand and brand. And let me tell you, your personal brand is connected to your. Whereas you may have a separate brand that is not connected to your name, but here's what I want to tell you.

[00:11:26] As a CEO of your business, people want to know who they're buying from and you're connected to your brand, whether you like it or not, if you were a small business currently. So that's what I'm talking to you, your personal brand matters because people want to buy from people that they know like and trust and share their values.

[00:11:41] So your personal brand applies to all of you. So, if you don't have your big vision, you don't know what lane you're trying to own. You don't know who you're trying to like get in front of or influence, and you don't know the unique parts of your story that you need to be in level one. You need to start here.

[00:11:56] That means you don't get to go and build websites. Have a marketing plan. Get on podcasts starts pitching yourself for speaking, you don't get to do none of those things because you haven't got these four ingredients. You see how the map works? It's so genius. Right? Okay. Good. Now let's talk about.

[00:12:14] So level two is all about building your identity, that at this point, you are ready to build your brand DNA and learn your unique flavor on how to use it as your compass to create a brand that's authentic to you. This is all about level two. So I'm going to show you all the different pieces. The ingredients, a level two.

[00:12:34] So let's look at level two.

[00:12:36] Not that you can see it, but you can see that it's in this like coral color. When you get your map, you'll see that it's in the next, you just follow that little car, that's going across the roadmap, follow the arrows and fall. And they're all labeled like level 2.1 is the first step in level two. So they're the steps are labeled for you as well.

[00:12:53] So you don't have to guess. So the first one is you need to identify your special sauce. Right. Identify what is interesting or unique about what you do or how you deliver your message. So, you know how we were talking earlier about the industry being over-saturated well, you don't have to worry about that if you know, what makes you and what you do unique, like how you deliver things may be unique.

[00:13:15] So how you deliver your message may be unique, how you help your customers may be unique. Industry may not be unique, but the who you're targeting inside that industry may be unique. Right. So think about how you do things differently. So one of the things that we do that I found was a need, my clients had, and I thought was different was we do personal brand photo shoots, but clearly I'm not a photographer.

[00:13:40] I am an art director, creative director for. That's what my background is. That's what I could do, but I can't go and take your picture for you. Like I can dabble in some camera, but I'm not a professional photographer. Now, the clients who were coming to me were like, I don't, I'm not a professional photographer, either.

[00:13:56] Monique. I don't know what I should wear. I don't know who to hire. I don't know how to pick locations. I don't know how to put on a brand shoot. And some of them were actually doing brand shoots, getting their shots back and being like, oh, this is not, this isn't capture who I wanted. So, what I put together was a done for you experience.

[00:14:14] So we do everything. I have a team, I have professionals that I hire. I bring in everyone I know who is perfect for your vision. So we do bread. We do a brand consultation. We get together. I figured out who you are. So the pieces of the roadmap I put together for you, we, we, we pull it out of you and then I source a location.

[00:14:35] Got you a stylist, get your power outfits, get the photographer glam squad. And we make sure that your photo-shoot is on point for your business. That's a done for you experience. Now, is there a premium for that? Yes. You pay a premium to have a done for you experience and a stress-free headache-free experience.

[00:14:51] But that's unique to. What a lot of other people do when it comes to brand shoots. Like a lot of the times people are photographers and sometimes there are photographers who do all of that, but I haven't met a lot of photographers that do all the pieces that we do because they're one person where, whereas.

[00:15:08] Like I curated a team of like 10 people to make this happen for you. So that's like a little bit of a secret sauce that we have inside of one of our offers. So think about what makes, what you do unique to, or how you deliver your message. How is that unique to your customer? The next step is brand values.

[00:15:23] So identifying your brand's core values, this guides your messaging. This guide your content. You've got to know what you stand for. In other words, what hill would you die on? What would you fight for? Right. What are the pieces that make you make your brand, what it is? How does it build out your company culture?

[00:15:42] How does it like all those pieces? You need to know. So when you get approached for opportunities, you know what to say yes to you and you know what to say no to, because people want to buy from people who are aligned with their values and your job is to make sure your values are known and to stick within them.

[00:15:59] And then the third step in level two is identifying your brand voice. So how do you want people to hear you online? And when I say hear you, I'm talking about like the energy and the vibe that you put out in your communication. So the words that you use, how you show up when they read your newsletter, all of that, all of that is to convey who like is to convey your brand values and who you are.

[00:16:26] This the fourth step is building out your brand personality. And we talk about this there's I have like episodes on brand personality. If you don't know how to build it, send me a DM. I'll send you the actual juicy CEO podcast link. But you've got to know your brand personality. So creating a brand is if it was a human being that you would love to hang out with.

[00:16:45] So think about the positive attributes that your brand would have and start formulating this persona that is aligned with your brand values, authentic to you. So people can start identifying with, and then the fifth step is building out your brand aesthetic. So having a brand aesthetic, right. We went from knowing who you are as a brand to building out your identity, to how now we're talking, we're going to like, how do you, how do you want to look out here?

[00:17:13] So thinking about how are you going to build a consistent, cohesive aesthetic, both online and offline right now, you're going to start thinking about your brand colors, your fonts, any kind of visual associations you may have. So for example, You know, I talk, my, a lot of my branding is around like bold, vibrant color.

[00:17:34] It's around being juicy. I say juicy a lot as, you know, if you follow me and. The visual associations I have with my brand are like lemons and juice and water squirting and, you know, glasses and like, things like that are very, like when people see them, if you've been following me, you're like, oh, that's so Monique.

[00:17:54] Right. And that's what you want for you. You want people to start associating you with the visuals that they. So that's all about identity and that's level two. So level three is all about marketing, your plan, your marketing plan. So creating a plan that gets you in front of the right people who want what you offer.

[00:18:13] And if you were in business, you've probably heard me say this before you are a marketer, whether you like it or not, we are all marketing. We are all marketers. Okay. So if you're like, I hate marketing. I get that. And it doesn't matter. You just got to get over that. Okay. Because you need to find and when we're talking about some of the pieces inside of the marketing, that will make you want to show up to market your business, because if you don't want to show up to market your business, there's a deeper thing going on there that we need to be addressing.

[00:18:44] Okay. So let's talk about level three, level three starts with. Cleaning up your digital house, clean up your digital house guys. So this means removing, deleting, updating your online footprint. So it aligns with how you want to be perceived in the marketplace today. So this is something you guys can all do, and no matter what level you're at, I prefer you to do it sooner than later.

[00:19:06] But if you're out here, you need to make sure your online presence matches with how you want to be perceived. People are not going to like guests, who you want to be and who you want to attract. We have to tell them they're not going to guess if you're good in business, not good in business. Look good.

[00:19:23] It's your job to clean it up. So go and remove and delete anything that doesn't serve you. Next thing is looking at your marketing channels. learning how you Excel and shine the best, right? So whether choosing your platform where you will show up consistently, are you going to be on Instagram?

[00:19:42] Are you gonna be on Pinterest? Are you ManTech talk? Are you. No, where you show are you going to be on video are going to be an audio like no, this and own it and go in damn well, do it. learn where you Excel. And when you find the place you Excel, you're going to be more apt to show up on those channels.

[00:20:00] Now, level three. Step three is marketing material. So start to think about what products can you create to give people a taste of your knowledge and amplify your credibility. We went through your mindset, mogul, where, what success looks like, setting yourself up, then your identity, how you want to be seen, heard what makes you different, picking your niche and now we're.

[00:20:22] And now when we look at the marketing material, this all fits in. See you see how you couldn't create really great marketing material. If you didn't know your brand personality, your brand voice of your brand aesthetic, how do you create an amazing webinar or a great workshop or a podcast or an e-book or any of those things without some kind of compass to follow for your brain?

[00:20:47] How are you going to know how to do your graphics, your colors, your, the tone of your voice, online, your communication strategy. How do you do those things? If you haven't built out your identity yet you can do it, but you will change it in the future one and two, it's not creating a staying power, memorability standout.

[00:21:07] Any of that. It's just another thing that somebody might download and be like, oh, okay. But guaranteed, if it's not branded, they'll forget who even made it. So when they're in a conversation with someone, even if it's of high value and I'm like, oh my God, there was this amazing training that I did. I just can't remember who did it or what website I went to to download it.

[00:21:31] Oh, it's probably somewhere in my email. I'll find it and send it to you, which. So we want to avoid all that. So you want to start thinking about what can you create to get people a taste of your knowledge, but knowing that you're creating it on brand. workshop ebook, video trading that step three and step four is content create.

[00:21:51] So choosing the best medium to deliver your message to your target audience and create value often. So not to say you couldn't be creating content prior to, to level three, but think about how much more impactful. Content creation is going to be now that you have a voice and an identity, and you know who you're talking to when we're creating content and we're like, it's not, no one's liking it.

[00:22:14] It's not, I'm not feeling energized. I don't want to do it a lot of times. It's because you're not getting engagement. No one is paying any attention to it. You're not a hundred percent sure who you're talking to or what outcome you even want. Knowing all the other steps before your big vision where you're going and who you're talking to will help you create content of value because that's the point otherwise?

[00:22:34] What are we doing? Okay. So that's all about marketing, your plan and that's level three Let's talk about level four. We are zooming through this. Wow. And I am zooming through it. Okay. So that's why we're going to create extra, like training and stuff around this. So you really like get to dive deep, but I wanted to give you guys an overview today because I want you to start thinking about where you're at and what steps you're missing.

[00:25:17] So level four is all about your brand visuals. So humans process images. What do I always say? I mean, it's not my stat, but it's the stat that I constantly quote because it, I really want it to drill down for you. How important it is that humans process images 60,000 times faster than. Text. So reinforcing your presence with branded visuals is essential.

[00:25:44] Like a non-negotiable non-negotiable. So let's talk about what are the steps in level. The only three steps. One, you need to get your personal style profile on point. So create credibility by putting your best Polish foot forward and creating a look that makes you feel confident and like a total badass.

[00:26:05] So no matter, depending on where you are in the world, you may just be having things open up where now you're going to be like, oh, I have to go out and network, or I have to see people or I'm meeting clients in person. What do I wear? And this may seem trivial to some, but here's what I want you to get. We are all judging a book by its cover, no matter how brilliant the author.

[00:26:24] So you don't get to show up for a client meeting, networking, meeting someone for the first time, look at a hot mess, express, like people are deciding, should they, or shouldn't they ever give you money for the thing that they say, the thing that you say you do based on how you look it's like, does Sheila put together.

[00:26:41] Does she look like she knows what she's doing. Listen, there are people in many different circles who can wear a hoodie and flip flops making millions of dollars. If you there already, this does not apply to you, but a lot of you. So stop using that as a reason to not put yourself together when you're out here in these streets.

[00:26:59] Okay. And I'm not saying to dress up in a suit if that's not who you are. This comes back to knowing who you are as a brand identity. This is why there's a roadmap. And this is why there are steps when you know your voice. You know your brand personality, you're going to know how to go and put yourself together.

[00:27:15] And one of the things we do in our company is we pair you with a stylist, get your power outfits, get the ones that will be best for stage for client work for your zoom calls that are on brand. So you don't need to think about it. So if you don't have that skillset, hire somebody or go to your local retailer and ask one of these, a millions of amazing employees who are trained to help you put yourself.

[00:27:37] But don't use it as an excuse to be looking a hot mess, express it ain't gonna work. So levels level four, step two is building out your brand assets. So this is where we start talking about getting your headshots brand photography graphics that are consistent with your brand aesthetic and all of this.

[00:27:55] All of these pieces are used to highlight your business online. Guys, listen. We have three to six seconds to make a powerful first impression. How are you going to do that? If you don't even have a professional headshot anywhere. So many people come to me and they're like, I want to be a speaker it's on my heart.

[00:28:12] It was what I was meant to be wonderful. Where's your headshot? Where's your. W, but some people will send you a headshot and be like, yeah, this is my headshot, but I don't like it. And I don't look like that anymore. No bad business. No, let's get it together. So building your brand assets are so critical.

[00:28:28] This is how you brand your systems inside your business. It's how you create this cohesive. Branded experience for people when they're, you're onboarding them. When they're working with you. I had a discovery call a couple of weeks ago and she just gave me the greatest feedback that I just had to record her.

[00:28:43] I was like, you're so amazing, but she's like, I just love your whole experience. And this is our first time talking to. From the minute I booked my call to filling out the intake to the emails I got to showing up right here with you. It was an, a branded experience. I want that for my business. I couldn't do those things.

[00:29:01] If I didn't have brand assets in place, if I didn't know who I was, if I didn't know who I was targeting. So you see there's a method to the madness. And then the third step in level four is having a personal website. A lot of people ask me, do I need to have a personal website and a business website?

[00:29:18] So let me just answer this for you right now. If you have no website, you need to have a personal website because your website is your online real estate. It's your home. It's what you control. We don't control any of the social media channels that are out here. We don't own any of them, but you want to have something where you go to a party, you can be like, they'd be like, Hey, I find you so interesting.

[00:29:39] I'd love to know more about what your. Okay, perfect. Here's my website. You go to a website and it's a, who you are headshot, bio, how to contact you, what you offer, maybe it's your portfolio of work that you've done, but it's your home. You curate that you should always have that for yourself. Now, if you have a business, you can have a page on your website that talks about.

[00:30:00] You as the business owner, what your mission is, who you're targeting. So it just depends on where you are at and what type of thing you have going on. Right? So for example, my business is Monique brian.com. It's my personal, where you'll find about. Because I am also a brand, but it's also where a lot of my business activities are because they're one in the same right now, but there are a lot of pieces we built outside of that, that are on other websites.

[00:30:25] So have a website, if you can own the URL of your name, own it. It's you. Okay. So that's step three in level. Now let's talk about the fifth and the final level, which is exposure. I can't tell you how many people jump from level one to level five or straight and start at level four. Level five is an amazing level because it's all about becoming top of mind and the things you can do to become top of mind, right?

[00:30:53] The exposure. However, you don't want to expose things to your hot mess express. If you're, if you're a hot mess in the background, that's not going to work. level five. It's all about letting people know who you are becoming impossible to ignore. And now getting some of that, you know, podcasting speaking media coverage, but here's what I want you to get.

[00:31:16] And we did a really great episode on the podcast about this with Pollyanna. It's a couple of episodes back a couple of weeks ago, so you'd be able to find it. And she was just talking about something really interesting. Cause she was like, you know, people want, cause she's, a senior writer for Forbes.

[00:31:32] She's also one of our head workshop hosts for the momentum retreat that's happening in November. So if you don't know about the retreat guys, I don't know. You've been living under a rock, but we are still, you know, there's still tickets to be, to be sold as still took us to be. Places to be secured. And she's one of the workshop hosts that are going to be talking about all, about your pitch.

[00:31:52] And one of the things she had shared was, you know, when people come to me, they all want to be written in Forbes. Of course we do. She's like, however, they are, they've only been on the scene for five minutes. They don't have any marketing collateral out here. They don't have any social proof. They don't have any proof that they know what they're doing.

[00:32:08] You haven't even been here for six months, let alone a year. And now you want me to write about you in Forbes. She's like I'm putting my reputation on the line to talk about something where we don't even know if you won't be here in another year. So give yourself time to develop. So that's what I'm going to say about exposure.

[00:32:23] Give you before you start coming out here saying, should I get PR, should I get an agent? Should I get media before you do that? Don't skip the steps. They're there for a reason. This is taking years. Yeah. To put together to really look at tons and tons of clients. That's why I can tell you that these steps are not just something I made up.

[00:32:43] Like literally I see the mistakes people are making and I'm like, it doesn't have to be this way. Right? You just skipped a few steps. We just need to go back and refine those steps. And that will make where you're at more powerful and eliminate the frustration. So before you come and expose all the things, don't skip the.

[00:33:01] Doubt. Okay. So let's talk about what's in level five, because there's quite a, there's a few steps in there.

[00:33:05] So what are the exposure steps? So the first one is building networking and building relationships. So it's not who, you know, it's who knows you, it's your job to grow and nurture a strategic network of people who know. Or fit your target audience. This is something you can do throughout the steps, but it's that much more powerful once you've built your identity, you know who you are, you know, who you're trying to reach, because if you were to reach out to somebody and you're like, Hey, I really love what you're doing.

[00:33:35] And I would love if you connect me with so-and-so or I would love to get in front of your audience. Great. What are they going to do first? They're going to Google you. You're going to go look you up. What are they going to find? Let me tell you something, you don't have that many tries to get it right on a first impression.

[00:33:50] I know that can be scary, but just put your best Polish foot forward. So if you don't have a brand identity, you don't know who you're reaching. Don't reach out to all these strategic partners you want to have. Charmaine is saying, I've heard you say this so many times before, but as I start to implement this it's only, now that it makes sense on how it all works, you know, Charmaine you just like hit the nail on the head.

[00:34:09] I could talk to him blue in the face, but the action is the only thing that teaches experience is the only way. Talking does not teach. I love that you shared that implement and putting these pieces in place will tell you where you're going. If you're in the right direction, if you should pivot doesn't work.

[00:34:25] Do you like your industry? Do you like your niche? Do you like your audience? Do you like your clients? You know, are you headed in the right direction? Only through implementation? So Charmaine I love you for sharing. so networking and building relationships is key to building your exposure and putting your, making your name top of mine, but don't you gotta have your, the ducks in the row on the first part of the roadmap before you do that, second step is media training.

[00:34:47] So this could be formal or through practice. I don't want to say informal, but formal or through practice. I want you to take the time to master the live interview. when you're being interviewed, how many times have you been listened to someone on an interview? And you're like

[00:35:05] falling asleep by what they're saying? And you're like, what is this Listen. I totally understand all of that. And I know it takes time to perfect it, but two ways I know how to perfect. Your public speaking or presentation. It's one through getting actual. Getting audited and trained by professionals who can teach you how to be a great presenter or tell you what you're doing wrong and to practice.

[00:35:34] And then you going back and auditing yourself or having someone else audit it. So coming out and doing like lives is a great way to figure out how you sound, how you show up. Are people engaging? Are you feeling comfortable? Master it, because now you want to go, people want to interview you, or you want to go on podcasts.

[00:35:51] That is such an amazing opportunity to get your message in front of people. So you want to make it powerful. You want to be memorable. You want to be able to bring people from their audience over to your side. That means you've got to do good interview, right? And there's nothing worse than someone who you really think green brings great value, but you can't stand.

[00:36:11] To hear them speak because they're boring as ass, or they just don't know how to articulate all their great juice. They know how to maybe write it down and you read their book and it's great. But then when you hear them on an interview, you're like, eh, some is interesting. Right? So master the interview, that's.

[00:36:25] The third step is speaking. Right. Love it. Love it. Love it. So speaking can fast track your visibility, right? So all of this, like going live is no accident. So we've been going live every Monday at 11. For before five years. Can you believe it? Oh my God. You know, and I ask, I tell all of my clients to create their own.

[00:36:45] So, this is a place where people know where they can find you at any day of the week. They know where you're going to be that day of the week. So whether it's on Instagram, whether it's on LinkedIn, you know, when clubhouse was a thing, it was clubhouse, but have a place where people can find you and find out about you and listen to you and get to know you at any given time on video or, you know what I'm going to say.

[00:37:08] When one of those things, the point is it's consistency and it's hearing your voice. That's the most important thing, right? So the more people hear you, the more they will get to know you, and it will fast track how they know you, how they need you. Right. But make sure when you're doing that speaking, you're letting people, you're sharing your expertise as well.

[00:37:26] So people know when will they need you in their lives. And then the fourth level, the first step in level five is pitching. People think you're great and you're wonderful or you think you're great. You're wonderful. And you think people are going come to you. Lori is saying, I love your visual map. Thanks Lori.

[00:37:43] It will be available for everybody in the next few weeks. Stay tuned. People will come to you, but that's not how it works all the time. That happens over time. But in the beginning, you're going to have to go out and pitch your services, pitch your expertise, pitch, yourself, to speak, and you want to research the events that cater to your desired target market and pitch yourself to speak.

[00:38:03] But you've got to also know your topic, inside of our training, we talk about how to position yourself as a speaker, what you need in your speaker toolkit before you start pitching. Because when you go out here and pitch, it's the same thing as anything else, best Polish foot forward, have the pieces in place.

[00:38:19] So it makes it easier for event organizers to choose you and knowing where you you're uniquely qualified to speak on as well is super important. And then the fifth step in exposure is PR and media relations. Let's talk about that for a second. Okay. Okay. Got it. So one of two things you can either DIY it, or you can hire.

[00:38:42] But if you've done all of the steps, you've got your mindset, right? At every level, you know where your niche is, you know who you're targeting. You've built a network, your marketing, your plan, you've branded your assets. You branded yourself online. You look like a professional online. You're bringing in clients or you're generating money from what you're doing.

[00:39:03] You love what you're doing. You're speaking. You, you can. Kick and interviews ass. Like your networking relationships are on point. You're pitching now. You're like, I want media. Now you can be like, you've been in the game long enough that you're like, I want to maybe be written in publications on blogs, things like that.

[00:39:23] Two things do you can be your own media relations. Company or you can hire a PR company. And here's what I'm going to say about that. Don't go hire a PR company. I love the air. I love, I have a lot of, I have a lot of friends who are in PR. So let me, let me explain, let me explain this one to you when you're starting out.

[00:39:42] A lot of people think I need to go hire a PR company or they're like, when do I hire a PR company? Do not hire a PR company. If you do not have your assets in place and you do not look like a brand on. If you do not know what you are, the expert in talking about, don't go hire them because they can't go market.

[00:39:56] You, you wasted all that money. They're also expense. Not, I'm not going to say expensive cause that's not true. They are also an investment that you want to be able to leverage after you've put the money in. So if you're paying a PR company minimum, a really good PR companies, probably like 3000. You're paying the monthly to get you on television, right?

[00:40:16] Get you on the Dr. Oz or the today show or breakfast club, and really think about why do you need that type of exposure? Most likely it's. If you have a book, a big. Something you're doing, that's going to require that type of exposure then fine. But outside of that, you can also first before you do that, become your own PR agent.

[00:40:38] So now your own PR company, I said, I said that wrong. You're a media relations company. I call it. But it's like, you be your own PR agent, meaning have your assistant. And if you're at this level, you should probably have an assistant by now. Right. So have your assistant send out your media. To podcasts, get interviewed, get written material, like become known in your city, in your country and wherever else your audience is like the most dominant and then go and try and get more of the exposure, right?

[00:41:06] Because. Television shows and things like that want to interview you. They're going to look you up too. And they're going to be like, is their brand aligned with our audience and our brand messaging, because now they've got a lot more people to answer to. There's a lot more red tape and you can't be out here again, look a hot mess, express, trying to get PR.

[00:41:24] It just don't want that way. So before you think about PR and investing in PR, think about investing in being your own PR agent for yourself and getting some stuff under your belt before you go and hire a PR agency.

[00:41:38] So that those are the steps guys. So I know we went over today, but I was so excited to share this with you. It will be available in the next few weeks. It'll have a quiz involved and things like that. So stay tuned. And may the other thing is if you buy your ticket for the momentum retreat, you will get a copy of this and you will get a workbook that tastes you through the pieces of this.

[00:41:57] But also we're going to have. Amazing workshop hosts, who are experts in their industry who are going to dive deep into a lot of these areas. So I'm so excited to have them. So if you don't know who those are, make sure you check the link in the bio. Because some of these people, you may never have been able to get in a room with for less than like six figures at some point, right.

[00:42:19] Because that's who they sit down with. And they're all coming. You know, we've got Pollyanna Reed. Who's going to come in and talk about pitchy. We've got Aaron Trafford. Who's going to talk about mastering the interview being on media. You know, she's been in, you know, news and anchor and she was a, she's a former news anchor podcasting production hose.

[00:42:36] Like all of those stuff she's been in that for over 20 years, we've got crystal Rawi and geode Ford who are gonna come in and talk about social media and being your brand. And they've worked with Marie folio, ISA Ray Gary V. Janet mock, they've got like amazing brands they've worked with they're coming and bringing all the secrets.

[00:42:55] And we've got Carrie who's could've come in. She's opposing master. So, all of that, like, I don't know how to pose in front of a camera. She's going to come in and do a really fun workshop around like posing and making yourself look your best. Then we also have Andrea Henry, who is a business lawyer.

[00:43:09] Who's going to talk about how your brand is an asset and how to leverage that to make more revenue streams. Inside of your business. I mean, hello. Why are we building this brand guys? We're not just building it for fun and shits and giggles. We're building it so we can have something that makes money when we ain't out here.

[00:43:25] That's the point. And then of course myself, I'm going to host the whole thing, but I'm going to be building, helping you build out your brand identity, curating all of this amazing content, building the most beautiful playbook. That's all built around this amazing roadmap. And we're just going to have such an amazing time.

[00:43:44] And we have three spots left for anybody who wants the Lux ticket. You get a photo shoot. You come a day before and you got a photo shoot, a brand shoe on the spot and, and some extra, extra perks before everyone else arrives. We have a few months before we close ticket sales, so excited. I really want to advise you to get in early or then later, because you can take advantage of our amazing payment plans that we have going on, and we are going to be nurturing you from now until the time of the retreat.

[00:44:17] This week or next week, we're going to be sending out the first things to the people who are already out to get. So if you have stay, keep your eyes peeled for are a gold envelope headed your way with, ' just a little something for you to get you started. And if you have any questions about it, if you want to know if it's for you.

[00:44:36] That definitely get on a call with me. I'm speaking to everyone personally, who purchases a ticket. So here's the thing about the tickets. If you find you go on the website, you're like, oh, I want this. And you go and buy a ticket. It will tell you that your spot is not guaranteed until you speak with me because I am creating.

[00:44:55] An environment where everybody can benefit from being there. I would hate for you to be in the room and not be able to benefit from all the amazing knowledge of the speakers, but also the connections that are going to be made. It is a curated group. So it's not to say you're the good or you're bad. It's more, can you benefit from the stuff we're going to give you?

[00:45:14] There's nothing worse than getting a whole bunch of. Amazing tools and not being able to do anything with them because your business is not in a place to utilize it. Then it just sits on a shelf. I have zero interest. And putting you through that. So we're going to look at where are you on the map and then deciding if the momentum retreat is perfect for you.

[00:45:34] So if you have questions about that, make sure you book a call and get on my calendar. Let's have a conversation. I will let you know, a hundred percent. Listen, I work for testimonials. If I can't, if I can't deliver on what I promise, then it's okay. We will find another place for you. Okay. Okay, good. Okay guys.
